  • What are the school hours?

The school day is 7:55 am to 3:05 pm.

The school office is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.

During the summer (mid-June through mid-August), the school office is open Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 2 pm and closed on Fridays.
  • What is the attendance policy?

In an effort to minimize paper transmission, please email attendance@bishopireton.org regarding any absences from school. Be sure to include the student's full name and reason for the absence. Parents may also call the attendance line at 703-212-5192 but an email is also required.

If a student will be late to school, either virtually or in person, please email the specific times that they will miss class. When requesting early dismissal, be sure to include specific time and reason.

Parents or guardians will be called if Michele Fracasso, Attendance Coordinator, has not been notified of a student’s absence and/or late arrival.

Requests for extended absences (three or more consecutive days) require an “Extended Absence Request” form which can be obtained from Mrs. Fracasso or found here. This form must be submitted to the Principal for approval.
  • What is the school's weather policy?

Bishop Ireton High School follows Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) with regard to a delayed opening, early closure, or cancellation of school due to inclement weather. In the event of any other decision, the school will notify the following broadcast outlets of our intentions:  WUSA-TV (Channel 9), WRC-TV (Channel 4), WJLA-TV (Channel 7), WTTG-TV (Channel 5), and WTOP AM/FM. An email notification will be sent to parents and a message will be placed on Bishop Ireton's website.

During a two-hour delay, doors open for students at 8:55am, the first bell is at 9:40am, and 1st period begins at 9:55am. When a delayed opening is announced during examinations, the published examination schedule will be delayed two hours (i.e., examinations scheduled for 8:00am will be given at 10:00am). If school is cancelled during  examinations, the examinations scheduled for the cancelled day will be administered on the next school day. If school is dismissed early or cancelled, all co-curricular activities (sports, rehearsals, etc.) are also cancelled.
